Stephen C. VanderBloemen, managing partner, has over 38 years of experience in public accounting including 36 years serving primary construction contractors; construction suppliers, credit grantors to contractors (sureties and bankers); and construction industry associations. John P. VanderBloemen, partner, has over 18 years of experience including ten years in public accounting servicing privately-owned construction and manufacturing companies and eight years as a CFO / controller / accountant with two privately-held construction companies.
As partner, his responsibilities include planning, supervising and reviewing staff work on attestation engagements which include audits, reviews and compilations. He is also responsible for tax compliance, tax planning and consulting on IRS and state tax audits; claims and litigation support; and as an outside financial advisor for privately-owned companies.
As CFO and Controller, his responsibilities included monthly preparation of financial statements; preparation of budgets and forecasts; organizing and providing information to outside auditors and ESOP valuation; all human resource functions; working with the insurance and surety providers with annual renewals and negotiating pricing; assisting project managers with their monthly costs to complete estimates; and supervising and guiding the accounting staff of the company.

Jonathan E. Hilgendorf, partner, has over 12 years of experience with seven years in public accounting serving privately-owned construction companies and five years as a controller for a privately-held company.
As partner, he is responsible for planning, managing and supervision of professional staff in the performance of audits, reviews, compilations and tax reporting/compliance services. He also is responsible for assisting clients in income, franchise, sales and use tax and property tax audits by Federal, State and local taxing authorities, consulting and contract compliance.
He has also been involved in many claim analysis, preparation, review and litigation support cases including a large contractor in a 1,000 + hour litigation engagement. Litigation support included assisting counsel at trial with document maintenance and assistance during examination of witnesses and depositions. Claim analysis projects for general contractors, specialty contractors, construction material suppliers, owners or owner’s representatives, including report drafting.

Eric J. Carlson, partner, has over 13 years of experience in public accounting and servicing privately-owned companies and over 18 years of total construction industry related experience. As a partner, he is responsible for assisting clients with the planning, design and implementation of financial and other reporting systems, contract analysis, project monitoring and contract estimating procedures, internal control analysis, systems planning and conversion procedures and general business consulting including the preparation of business valuations.
He is also responsible for serving as an outside financial advisor to privately-held businesses. Eric plans, organizes, coordinates and completes audits, reviews, compilations and contract related services and performs claim/litigation support for contractors, specialty contractors, construction material suppliers, developers, owners or owner’s representatives, including expert witness testimony. Eric participates extensively in industry advancement groups and especially in committees at the national level in order to assist these groups to address issues and regulations that affect closely-held construction companies.

Jack De Young has over 40 years experience in sales and use taxes in the private and public sector. Prior to establishing his own consulting business, Jack was a tax manager for a large regional CPA firm. He provides a variety of services to clients, including audit and appeal support, training, identifying exemptions not being utilized, filing claims for refund, compliance and nexus reviews, research, and obtaining rulings from state revenue agencies. Of the 40 plus years of experience, 36 years were spent with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue as an auditor, criminal investigator, director of appeals, and assistant administrator.
Jack is a CPA and a member of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Wisconsin State Taxation Committee. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Jack was a recipient of the “Outstanding Tax Professional” award from Corporate Report Wisconsin magazine and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Tax Association. He has given speeches at over 200 seminars and meetings throughout Wisconsin and other states on topics such as: Sales Tax Treatment of Contractors, Manufacturers and Computer Software; How to Avoid Costly Audits; Tax Updates; New Laws; and Sales Tax.
